Whew! We had a busy, busy weekend. Let's dive right in, shall we?
1. This was my day yesterday...
5am Alarm goes off. Attempt to crush it in a fit of rage but too tired to actually move a muscle.
5:45 Run 10miles with the hubby and his running buddy. Beautiful, beautiful morning. They never walk. They even re-fuel while running. Strange.
8:00 Back at home after contemplating a Starbucks run. Negative on the coffee run.
9:00 Begin removing the large window in our front room. (Hubby takes #3 and #4 to the grocery store with him. Bless him.)
10:00 Window successfully removed thanks to two neighbors who helped lift it out.
10:30 #2 and #3 run errands with my mom and sister. Hubby and #4 take #1 to soccer try-outs. (She made the team - yippee!)
10:45 Run to Home Depot with my dad to purchase 2x4s. Perform math in our heads in the car. A risky move that paid off in the end.
11:15 Home. Take shower and get ready.
12:00 Head down to mid-town to shoot a ballet. (Meanwhile, window is successfully installed!)
4:45 Drive home. Immediately head to pool to see if the family is still swimming. Attempt to get more use out of my beautiful (rented) 70-200 2.8L lense. #4 refuses to cooperate and leave me alone. Walk up to the house to change. Back to pool.
6:00 Walk home and start dinner.
6:30 Eat dinner out on the deck - beautiful night, albeit slightly hot with no breeze. Full table: me, the hubby, #1 - #4, my sister, niece, and nephew. So fun.
7:00 Take #4 up for a bath due to recurring temper tantrums.
7:45 Hand off #4 to hubby for bedtime duty. Resume hubby's job cleaning up the kitchen.
8:15 Sit outside and watch kids play in the cul-de-sac. Drink 1 beer.
9:30 Put #2 and #3 to bed while hubby tucks in #1.
9:45 Get sucked into some dumb TV show about being a food star.
10:45 Pass out, exhausted.
2. Today, exhaustion set in about 4pm, just in time for #2's softball game. Suck it up and enjoy the great weather while watching #2.
3. Why did we install a new window? Well, two, actually. We are getting new siding on the house (two sides) and we needed to remedy a couple window situations. The windows in our laundry room and front room actually touched the floor. Is that not the dumbest thing you've ever heard of? That, and they were drafty, single-pain, pieces of crap windows. They had to go and we had to do it before they replaced the siding. AND, it just so happened my parents were passing through town again this weekend on their way home from their vacation. It also just so happens that my dad is a very handy individual. We shamelessly took advantage of the situation and his skillz. Thanks, dad! What is my tab up to these days? $1,509,819.76.
4. #3 is gone this week. It's really strange to be down one kid. She went back to Sioux Falls, SD with my parents who also took my niece and nephew with them. The three cousins will have an absolute blast this week and we'll be down a kid. #4 already misses her. She asks about "Line Line" frequently. And #1 asked several times if we could call her sister tonight. I love that they miss each other because then I know how much they all care about each other!
5. I bought another piece of furniture. I know, I know. I have an addiction. But it is not one I'm ready to conquer just yet:) The piece I bought is a gorgeous mid-century dresser that will eventually be painted a crisp, shiny white. (OK, gorgeous may be pushing it - but it will be fabulous when I'm done with it!) I'm putting it in my bedroom and I can't wait. I also sanded the HECK out of the mid-century dresser we are using as a sofa table. I had stained all the drawers last week and now I need to stain the body. It was HARD work because the stain did not want to come off. I think I hand sanded as much as I used my electric sander. That is not good. But, it is going to look good when it's done. Hopefully this week!
6. I mentioned shooting a ballet yesterday. It was wonderful. I am not a cultured individual. I wish I was, but I don't frequently make it to the theater and have never been to New York City. Shame, I know. Therefore, I really enjoyed this ballet. It was called The Life of Cosette and was based on the character from Les Miserables. The ballet was put on through the Culture House here in Kansas City. What a wonderful organization. Here is just one image I managed to capture. I will put up a full sneak peek when I'm done editing. (I was shooting the young Cosette.)

Have a terrific week.
