1. Happy Easter, everyone! If you celebrate, I hope you had a great day. We sure did.
Honestly, I was most looking forward to a day with nothing scheduled, besides church. It was so great not to have to spend the day running around from activity to activity. We had a lazy day and the girls played really well together. I couldn't have planned it better in my head.
#2 and #3 ran into our room at 6:30am this morning to tell us #4 was up and the "EASTER BUNNY WAS HERE!" That presented a slight problem. You see, it was my morning to sleep in. And 6:30am is NOT sleeping in. We convinced the girls to climb into my bed and watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse until 7:00am while the hubby got up with #4. It was better than nothing. But by 7am, I was fully awake. The girls woke up #1 and they all raced around the house looking for eggs. I was pleased as punch to watch them hunt for eggs. #1 and #2 were great at helping the littles find eggs. They totally could have hogged all of them, but in the end, #3 had more eggs than her three sisters. Precious. What did they get in their Easter baskets? I have to say, the Easter Bunny was pretty smart this year.
#1: The 3rd Narnia movie (she read the whole series after Christmas) and a soft volleyball.
#2: Knee pads, elbow pads, and wrist guards for riding her skateboard, batting gloves, and a softball.
#3: A Fancy Nancy book and a new shorts and T-shirt outfit.
#4: A bubble set and a new shorts and T-shirt outfit.
Here are a few shots - dying eggs was actually done Saturday night. Nothing like the last minute!
I wish I could say she got this from her dad. But it's me - 100%.
Check out the hair - awesome!
(Notice the jelly bean in her mouth? She tried every. single. color. And she spit out every. single. color.)
After church we headed home to eat homemade cinnamon rolls, scrambled eggs with cheese, and OJ. It was noon by the time we were done eating, so the little girls each took a nap. #1 and #2 played out in the garage (no idea why the garage) and did make-overs just like #3's new Fancy Nancy book. They played out there for two hours - no joke!
We eventually headed out to Home Depot so we could make our raised vegetable garden just like the Pioneer Woman. The hubby and #1 put it together. It looks perfect. Now we just have to get it filled with dirt! The girls are so excited to plant their seeds, they can hardly wait! I have to say, I'm almost as excited. While they put it together, the other girls and I played outside and made a scrumptious dinner: shish-ka-bobs, risotto, asparagus, and strawberries. YUM. All in all, a fantastic day.
2. You've "heard" me complain about my knee. You may even be sick of me complaining. (My husband is about done listening. This morning he offered to get me a wheelchair. Such support, huh?!) Well, I finally made it to the ortho on Friday. I had a series of X-rays and he checked it out. The good news? It doesn't look like anything is wrong with it - looks like a great knee. The bad news? He doesn't really know what's wrong with it. So he wants to send me for an MRI. I have a feeling I'm going to just have to suck it up and quit working out for at least two to three weeks. I have tried "going easy" but it doesn't work. It's always sore the next day. Blech. I just want it back to normal. It's killing me not getting to run in this gorgeous spring weather:(
3. I have a shoe story. #2 needed new shoes for Easter and first communion. So last Wed. night we went out hunting. We went to three stores before we finally found two pairs that she liked. We brought them home and picked out the pair that matched her dress. Fast forward to today. As she was getting dressed for church, she decided the shoes were too big. Ugh! So now I have to take them back and go to a "special" shoe store that carries narrow. I. Can't. Wait. Does this happen to anyone else? Or just me?
4. Last Sunday I promised you first communion pictures from a shoot I was going to have yesterday, right? Well, yesterday was pretty but chilly. We postponed. We're keeping out fingers crossed that Friday night is beautiful weather.
5. Next Sunday is #2's big day - first communion. Well, I've got the menu planned. I hope it turns out:
- Appetizers (deviled eggs, stuffed mushrooms, and cucumber rounds)
- Brisket (slow cooked in the oven)
- some sort of potato
- Broccoli - not sure how, yet
- Green beans with oranges
- Dessert - ice cream cake to celebrate #4's birthday
6. I have to admit - and I think I've written about it before - these spring weekends are not my favorite. We spend so much time shuttling the kids from one activity to another that it's hard to get to the grocery store some days! Just yesterday we had a softball game and two soccer games. Thankfully, there was no volleyball game. Last Sunday we had a swim practice, softball practice, and a soccer game. I suppose I could ask the girls to curtail their activities, but I hate to do that if they truly enjoy them. So we suffer on through it all. But honestly, I can't wait 'till it slows down around here!
All right, folks. That's it. I hope you all have a great week!
