Hello! I have to admit, I'm not really feeling it tonight. I think this will be a short one. But better something than nothing, right?
1. We went to Arkansas this weekend to visit my mom. We ended up pulling the kids out of school a little early to miss the rain turning to snow/ice. We had a nice weekend. Friday was just casual hang out and eat pizza. Then Saturday we did an escape room in Fayetteville. Only my middle two have ever done an escape room so it was new for the rest of us. We loved it but we failed to get out. I think we'd love to try another one now that we have a better idea what to do.
We followed up our escape room with a bit of shopping in Rogers, and then headed back to my mom's house to snack and watch the Chiefs game. Obviously that was an awesome game! We finished out the night with a delicious dinner and the latest Mission Impossible on pay per view. This morning we headed out to breakfast before hitting the road. It was a quick weekend but nice to get out of town for a bit.
2. I have stuck with my 30 day yoga challenge thus far - yogawithadriene. I still need to do today's practice, but I'll get it done. Honestly, I'm not sure if I'm getting anything out of it or not? Maybe I'll have an epiphany at some point? Or maybe not. Regardless, I feel like I've come this far, I should finish it. After all, I even took my mat with me to Arkansas this weekend to keep up with my practice. Now that's dedication!
3. Let's talk about books! My mom gave us each our Christmas book present. (We get a book every year.) I received Michelle Obama's Becoming and I'm loving it thus far. I am just getting to the part where she is headed to Princeton. I love her writing style and perspective.
It was perfect timing because I had just finished reading The Girl in the Spider's Web by David Lagercrantz. The books were actually a series written by Stieg Larsson (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played With Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest). I loved the first three and took a chance on this book even with a different author. I'm the kind of person who likes conspiracy theories and movies like The Bourne Identity so of course I really enjoyed this book as well.
Did I tell you I read Crazy Rich Asians last year while in Hawaii? I loved it. It was such a fun, easy, beach read. Well anyway, we rented the movie over break. I adored it! I actually loved the end of the movie more than the book. Isn't that strange? I don't think that has ever happened - I'm looking at you, Harry Potter. Anyway, I'd highly recommend the book and the movie. Just read the book first.
4. I think we received nearly 9" of snow while we were gone. So we came home to a winter wonderland. I don't think we've received this much snow since 2012. I LOVE it!
The view on our drive home:
The littles played outside for nearly three hours. They had so much fun!
Here was our view from the couch while watched the Saints and Eagles game:
And you know one of the best parts about all this snow? We came home to a cleared driveway! Can you believe it? Don't we have the best neighbors EVER?! Both the hubby and I were dreading shoveling because it is a really wet, heavy snow. That seriously made my day!
5. I think this week will feel a bit hectic since I didn't have a chance to do any meal prep. So I purposefully picked easy things to make this week.
6. Time to go do my yoga for the day. And I think I will follow it up with a bath and my book. Have a great week!
