Howdy! I'm a day late but better late than never, right? Anyway, let's get started...
1. My mom was in town this weekend to watch her grandkids play their sports. She was 5 for 6! In fairness to my mom, #1 didn't have a swim meet so there wasn't really a way to watch her swim. But my mom did manage to watch my niece, nephew, and #2 and #3 play soccer. She also watched #4's tennis lesson. I'd say that's a pretty productive weekend! Here are the four soccer players:
#2 played at 9:30pm Friday night so her game didn't end until 11pm. That was late for all of us, actually. The game ended tied in zeroes but it was fast-moving and fun to watch. The teams were definitely evenly matched and both played really well.
#3 played on Saturday afternoon (and again on Sunday afternoon). Her Saturday game was AWESOME. She scored her first goal and it was so fun to watch! Last year she played defender and this year she has been playing mid more and more. She's got her dad's genes which means she can turn it on and run FAST! I felt like she was a little play-maker that psyched her team up and after her goal they started playing so much better. That was really cool to watch. I'm hoping they can continue to progress with each game. They have a tournament this weekend so we'll see how it goes.
My niece and nephew both played on Sunday and I was able to watch most of their games. I only see about one game per season and they have both progressed a lot so it was entertaining to watch them play. But man, it was a lot of soccer on Sunday! (Which partly contributed to my absence last night.)
2. Last week was really productive for me. I finished up a ton of small projects around the house:
- Styled my glass kitchen cabinets
- Painted a mid-century desk
(I desperately want to keep it but I have no place for it. If you want it - I'm selling it for $100!)
- Painted a wall in the upstairs hallway after I patched 5 million holes
- Organized and picked pictures for my 2016 scrapbook
- Finished the gallery wall in my bedroom
3. I helped my friend, Carmen, price things for her garage sale last week. I did not come away empty-handed. #4 has a Halloween costume now!
She is PUMPED! We are going to add a cap and maybe some red or blue earrings and she will be "Spidergirl". I love it.
4. My friends and I signed up for ClassPass last week and so far, so good. It's currently 50% off so for only $40/month (minimum 3 months) we have unlimited classes all around the city. The only catch is it does not allow a studio to be visited more than 4 times per month. And some studios will block their most popular classes so they are not available to ClassPass members but so far we've been lucky. And that price is simply unbeatable! So far we've been to Raw Power, the Grind, and Simoneau Sports Performance - all 5:30am classes. I could easily recommend all three places. I love that we can mix it up and we don't have to do the same work-out every day.
When we add in our Tuesday/Thursday running group - we've got a great system figured out for this fall. I'm so excited!
5. Since my mom won't be back here until Thanksgiving, she wanted us to decorate for Halloween this weekend so she could help and see the place in all its glory. I can safely say we're ready for Halloween! I'll have to capture some shots and share them when it is actually October! But honestly, it was nice to have the extra help and now it's done so that feels good.
6. I booked two of our excursions for Hawaii last week - a snorkel adventure to Malakai and a sunrise bike ride down a volcano. We are getting excited and I have a feeling it will be here before we know it! (Just over 3 months away now and we've been talking about it for 18 months.)
I think that's about all I've got. Have a fantastic week!
