OK. Let me first start off this post by saying this wasn't really what I would consider a thrifty project. Rather, it was thrifty only in the fact that we did it ourselves. I'm sure we saved money but it didn't feel like we saved a dime! And it took us four months. So there's that, too.
Would I do it again? Absolutely! I love my new shower. It feels like I'm stepping into a spa when I walk in there. (Walking out of the shower is another story! The rest of the room is completely torn up.) And I said it last Sunday, but there is something special about knowing you completed the project with your own two hands vs paying someone to do it.
Without further rambling, I'm just going to show you a bunch of pictures now.
In case you're wondering why that soap dish is so low, I prop my foot up with it when I shave my legs. It's not actually supposed to hold anything. And if I'm being honest, it was a compromise. I really wanted to put in a tiny niche for my foot but the hubby axed the idea because he didn't want to have to frame it in. I gave up because I wanted to stay married.
As for this large niche pictured below, I love it! I was sad we couldn't put it on the back wall that you see when you face the shower, but that wall was full of pipes for the shower in #1's bathroom. This was another compromise. I wanted a third niche right up next to the shower head for my coffee. (Tangent: I have taken my coffee in the shower since I was in college. I ALWAYS find a place to set it. ALWAYS.) Again, the hubby basically told me to take a hike. He wasn't framing it in. Again, I gave up because I wanted to stay married. So this niche is extra long to make sure and fit my coffee mug. So it's all good!
I am absolutely in love with the trim kit I picked out! That gold. Ugh. It's amazing. And the square shape steals my heart.
More gratuitous photos of golden gorgeousness.

Phew! There you have it. My shower has been officially revealed. Hopefully it doesn't take as long to finish up the rest of the bathroom but I'm not holding my breath. We're not exactly speedy over here. I'll do another post or two on tips and tricks we learned while doing the shower. But I think this is enough for one post. If you have any questions, holler and I'll be sure to speak to it in the follow-up posts.
Thanks for sticking with me!
