We had a busy week and an even busier weekend. But it was great!
1. We have been watching a lot of TV lately. But it's not bad TV. We've been really into the Olympic trials! It's especially fun to watch the girls (well, #1 and #2 at least) get into it, too. I think they realize these athletes really are the cream of the crop. Since they are both swimming competitively this summer, they've been really into the swim trials.
And on that note, do you know where they went last Thursday night? Omaha! As soon as #1 was finished with her swim meet, the hubby drove #1 and #2 up to Omaha so they could watch the trials during the Friday morning session. The best part? The hubby scored AWESOME tickets for ONLY $25 a piece right above where the swimmers walk out to the blocks! How cool is that?
The girls LOVED the experience and didn't stop talking for a full 10 minutes when they walked in the door Friday night. I know #2 took a bunch of pictures but we haven't had time to download them yet.
2. So what did I do with #3 and #4 while the big girls were on their way to Omaha? Why, Orange Leaf, of course. Since the little girls were sad they didn't get to go to Omaha, I wanted to make them feel a little special. They loved it! Here is the proof:
A little slice of heaven:
3. The hubby and I been trying to watch our carbs a little bit. But I love carbs. Like, seriously love them. So I've been telling myself it's OK to eat Quaker Oat Squares. I suppose if you're going to eat carbs Quaker Oat Squares aren't so bad. But does that apply to half the box? In one sitting? Probably not.
4. Our pool was closed pretty much all week. I'm not exactly sure what happened - something broke. It turned green. It was gross. So anyway...it was the topic of conversation around our house. (We usually go to the pool almost every night after dinner since it's only two houses away.) Where am I going with this? Hang on...
Thursday night #4 and I were talking about something when all of a sudden she looked at me and asked, "When is the damn pool going to open?" WHAT? I was flustered but managed to spit something out and totally ignored her swear word. I am hoping this, too, shall pass!
5. We had a fantastic weekend! We had some old friends over for dinner and the little girls played with their girls all night! (I'm sure it a little something to do with the fact that we paid #1 and #2 to "babysit" their sisters.) But still, it was nice to be able to sit down and have a conversation without getting interupted every five seconds.
I ran 10 HILLY miles Saturday morning while the hubby took #4 with him to watch #2's swim meet. As soon as they got home we took off for Bella Vista, AR. We had a super fun visit with my parents!
When my parents decided to retire down in Bella Vista they started thinking about getting a boat since there are so many lakes down there. They figured they wouldn't want to golf EVERY day and might want something else to keep them occupied. Fast forward to now. They've got a super sweet boat! It's a tri-hull pontoon that seats 14 and pulls skiers like it's nothing.
They weren't able to get a slip until tomorrow (July) so we had to put the boat in the lake each day but it wasn't bad at all. The hardest part was finding the lake!
At first #4 was a little scared of the boat. Thankfully that didn't last long. All four girls went tubing both yesterday and today. At first the little girls were really, really hesitant to get on the ginormous tube with their sisters. We had to promise them we'd go super slow. But we talked them into it. I posted this picture on facebook but it's just so darn cute!
We swam, we wakeboarded, we skied, we tubed - it was awesome! Both the big girls got up on water skis and stayed up for a long time! The hubby is getting pretty good at the wakeboard and I even skied around the lake a little while. And all the kids had a blast on the tube! It was so nice because we all enjoyed ourselves and no one was left out of the fun.
None of the kids wanted to go home. (Who am I kidding. *I* didn't want to go home!) So we had to promise them we'd go back as soon as we have a free weekend. I just love the lake and I'm so glad my girls are developing the same love!
Thanks for the fun weekend, mom and dad!
6. And finally...I managed to take a short video on my phone. (I didn't take out my big camera because I didn't think the hundred degree heat would be good for it.) Check it out if you feel like clicking!
Have a fantastic week and enjoy the 4th!
