1. My love for Craigslist runs deep. Not only do I sell a lot of things on it, I love that it keeps stuff out of landfills. What did I do this week? Well, I sold all the decorations I used to have sitting on the fireplace hearth. I decided I was sick of them AND they were much too traditional for my ever-leaning contemporary taste. I also love that when I sell things it negates a trip to Goodwill.
I also purchased two things on Craigslist this week. I bought a dresser for the basement and a table for the kitchen. The dresser is a little beat up, so we're going to saw off the bottom and put on some contemporary legs from Ikea. (LOVE Ikea - just wish we had one.) The table is perfect for the kitchen. It actually has a leaf so we can make it bigger when we have company - which is actually quite often. I just need to come up with the perfect paint color for it. I'm going to have to mull that one over for awhile.
Now, what do I NOT love about Craigslist? True story. When we were unloading the table (my hubby picked it up), I was pulling it out of the back of the truck. I looked down at the inside corner and saw a bunch of cobwebs. Like, a BUNCH of cobwebs. I stared at it a little harder, it looked like something. OMG - sure enough - it was A DEAD MOUSE!!! I about died. I had to take a little breather before I could muster the courage to go back outside and carry it in the house. Disgusting.
2. Yesterday, while my hubby was picking up the aforementioned table, the girls and I went on a walk. It was a decent day and they needed some fresh air. Well, today, #3 wanted to go on another, longer walk. Even though it was pretty cold today, we headed out (minus #2 who didn't want to join us) to enjoy some sunshine. I'm so glad we did. We had a blast!
3. Tonight while I was putting #2 and #3 to bed, #3 said to me, "I just need to tell you something. I really, really want to go to Dis-e-ny World." This has been going on for months. No kidding, months. She knows we'll go when #4 is older, but she can hardly wait.
4. #2 had a friend over to play today, which is very typical of a Sunday afternoon. I went up to her room to check on them. When I looked up, I saw her ceiling fan COVERED with stuffed animals. Apparently, the new game is to climb to the top bunk, cover each blade of the fan with stuffed animals, and then turn on the fan and try to catch as many falling stuffed animals as possible. Kids...
5. We made chocolate-covered pretzels yesterday. They are so delicious. Here's how:
- Put one Hershey's kiss on each pretzel
- melt in the oven on 225 for about 5 minutes
- immediately put one or two M&Ms on each melty kiss
- Throw in the freezer to harden
- Eat. Yummy
In addition, I tried a new recipe last night for quinoa. I didn't even know how to pronounce it yet alone where to find it at Hy-Vee. I had no idea how it'd turn out. Success!! It was great. And it was so easy. It's definitely a recipe we'll make again. Even #1 liked it! And to top it off, it was vegetarian. Love that!
6. What did I accomplish this weekend from my punch list? I painted #1's bathroom. I've been promising her for over a year that I would paint it. Well, turns out we had almost a full can of paint left over from her bedroom. (We painted three walls blue and one wall green.) Her green bathroom looks so good now - and much more grown-up than her previous purple bath! And most importantly, she is very happy with her new bathroom. I even managed to get her to clean it all out. THAT was no small feat!
All right, folks. That's it. Have a great week!
