Well, well, check it out...it's actually SUNDAY! Woohoo!
1. I am done with my Christmas shopping. Yippee. I spent all day on Monday shopping and then finished up yesterday. I wrapped most of the presents yesterday and my oldest helped out a ton. After she was finished, she was actually disappointed there were no more presents to wrap. Our tree finally looks finished now that there are some presents underneath.
2. What have we been eating all week, you ask? Cookies!! We've been enjoying our goodies from last weekend.
3. My hubby was out of town the first three days of the week. All in all, it wasn't too bad. The hardest part of the day wasn't bedtime, as most everyone assumes. No, it was morning. Getting all five of us out the door at a decent hour is HARD! #4 decided to get up REALLY early on Tues., so that meant I was up for the day at 5am. Yuck. I am not a morning person. Come to think of it, I'm not exactly a night owl, either. I need my sleep:)
4. We had #3 and #4's Holiday program last week. Their school put on a show, The Polar Express. It was really cute. #4 rode on the "train" and #3 sang Santa Claus is Comin' to Town. It's so funny to listen to her. She really knows the song well and they even had actions to it! Her version goes something like this, "He's makin' a list, checkin' it twice (throw up your arms with 2 fingers), gonna find out who's not berry nice..."
Note: I'm not sure if you noticed, but #3 has her own fashion sense these days! They were supposed to dress up as elves. However, she was NOT going to be talked into anything I suggested. Nope. She dressed herself, as she does most everyday. Therefore, she had on a top and bottom that not only don't go together, but it was her birthday shirt. Nice touch, I know.
5. I'm working on my grocery list for Christmas Eve dinner. I know I'm going to serve crabcakes for an appetizer, but I can't decide what to make for the main dish. I've been thinking about seafood au gratin, mushrooms and scallops in a white sauce, seafood paella, or seafood risotto. It all sounds so good! I think I'll have to consult the internet to make a final determination:)
6. Tonight our Advent Calendar activity was "drive around and look at lights". So we drove up Metcalf to the Vince and Associates building. (If you haven't seen it - GO NOW. They time their lights to music and it's incredible.) We were NOT disappointed! (I meant to bring my camera, but totally spaced it off as we were loading the car.)
Do you ever have those moments where you want to store a certain feeling or thought or experience in the Memory Bank? You know, the smell of your baby after a bath, the feeling of their little head snug on your shoulder after they've fallen asleep, or something cute your 2-year-old says? Well tonight I had one of those feelings...#1 and #2 were sitting in the front seat together, captivated by the dancing lights. #3 was sitting on her dad's lap - bopping to the music. And I was in the back, holding #4 who was jumping up and down to the music. Everyone was so happy and I caught Patrick's eye over the kids' heads and knew right then that I had to store that memory for later. Sigh...
Well, that's it for tonight. Hopefully I'll have time to post some decorations pictures later this week!
