Six on Saturday

I've seen other blogs that have set "themes" throughout the week.  That got me thinking...I decided to try "Six on Saturday" - just a random list of six things about me and my family and what's going on in our lives.  Here goes:

1.  I ran errands all afternoon with #1, #2, and #4 (#3 was napping).  We actually only went to three stores but it felt like more:  K-Mart, Michael's, and Party City.  We bought lots of fun stuff for our Halloween party next Friday night.  I'm most excited about the fog machine - that will be so cool.

2.  Our Halloween party is going to be lots of fun!  I'll post pictures next weekend.  We're going to have a haunted house in the garage.  It's going to have a few "rooms":  Witch's Room, Autopsy Room, Ghostly Graveyard, and possibly a Dracula's Lair.  My parents are coming down to help and my sister and her family are coming over, too.  PLUS - #1 and #2 each invited 10 friends.  It's going to be crazy!!

3.  We went to church tonight.  The second week in a row.  I hope we're starting something here...

4.  So far we've avoided the flu of any sort.  Half of us have caught a really nasty cold.  I hope that's as bad as it gets.  My fingers are crossed!

5.  Right now my two oldest each have friends over for a sleepover.  I hope they go to bed at a decent hour because I AM TIRED.  

6.  Tomorrow I need to do a lot of work in the kitchen.  I've really been slacking on preparing dinners because I haven't felt very good.  But I need to pick up the slack this week. I also need to make another batch of cake pops for the Halloween party and some sugar cookies, too.  Busy, busy.

Fall Foliage and my kids {Overland Park children's photographer}

I told myself I'd blog a few times a week and here it's been nearly a week!  I've had a nasty cold and I'm in bed as soon as the kids are in bed.  It's pathetic, really.  But I haven't been able to stay up past 9:15 in I don't know how long?!  Ugh.

This weekend I wanted to get some pictures of the girls b/c the leaves were/are just gorgeous!  So, we loaded up our gas-guzzling suburban and we were off.  I usually pride myself in being able to do things with all the kids without any help.  This excursion, however, proved there are times that call for reinforcements.  Almost as soon as we got there, #3 refused to be in any pictures.  Then she had to go potty.  So we all five headed in to the bathroom.  While we were in the bathroom, #4 pooped.  I had a diaper bag with NO DIAPERS!  Then #1 and #2 started rolling down the hill, got covered in scratches, and decided they were done.  So, I left without a great picture of the four of them together.  Oh well...here is what i DID manage to capture.

    

I got about 30 seconds with this one...

The picture on the left was shot with me laying on the cold ground, holding a six month old baby in my left hand and my camera in my right hand!

  

This one is infatuated with the "funny face" shot!  Go figure...

  

So there you have it!  My quest remains the same - to get a good picture of all four of them!  

Six Months

Guess who turns six months old tomorrow?  My baby.  I've noticed the time flying by faster and faster with each additional baby.  I think we're so much busier now than we were eight years ago that everything goes by quicker.  But this time, this time is different because I know to treasure all the little things.  This time I can let the house go a little more; it will still be there tomorrow, begging to be picked up.  I can wait on my next project, because you won't nap in our arms forever.  And I'm trying so hard to remember all the little things because I know you are our last.  (Unless we win the lottery - then all bets are off!)  

Kennedy, at six months old, this is what I know...

•  You LOVE your Johnny Jumper.  You especially love it if your older sisters are wrestling around in the next room.
• You want to crawl so badly!  You can get up on all fours and rock.  You're just not quite sure how to move your arms and legs in conjunction with each other.
• Your older sisters make you laugh.  And it's the sweetest belly laugh I've ever heard.
• You love tummy time.  Sitting up?  Not so much.
•  You also really like your exer-saucer.  But if we leave you alone, you get mad.  You are so used to commotion you don't know what to do with silence.  
• You're still not a fan of your carseat.  You will tolerate it if you have a toy, but only for so long.
• At "school", you love to paint.  You are always so focused in the pictures I see - sheer determination at a mere six months old.
• And lastly, we are all madly in love with you!

Happy Six Month Birthday, my baby:)

 

 

Shoes

What do you get when you take four girls, a mom, and a dad to Target on a Thursday night?  

This!!

  

And to top it all off, my 8 year old now wears size 5 1/2 in womens shoes.  That is good and bad.  While her selection has drastically increased, so has the price:)

I think she looks like she's totally rockin' it out in this one.  I know my girls love America's Next Top Model and that's what comes to mind when I see this photo!  Just look at that little hip cocked to the side - attitude.

  

Look - do you see it in her eyes?  Do you know what that is?  I'll tell you.  It's sass!

Nelson-Atkins {Kansas City Baby/Family Photographer}

I asked my friend, Amanda, if she wanted any pictures and thankfully, she said yes!  This is the first time I had a chance to meet her daughter and it was a treat.  She was so fun and easy-going.  I learned a lot about her - she loves, loves, loves peek-a-boo and her paci, her favorite song is The Itsy Bitsy Spider, and she doesn't like to sit still:)

My Niece and Nephew {Olathe Kids Photographer}

So tonight I got to practice on my niece and nephew.  And let me tell you - they are GREAT practice!  I don't think they sat still.  Ever.  The entire night.  But I still captured some fun images where their little personalities just shined through.  Take a look...
